The best titles are successful because readers buy books that are recommended to them by people they trust. This couldn’t be more true for indie authors, who–without a big budget PR department behind them–survive and thrive by word of mouth alone.
That’s why I could use your help. If you liked any of my books or the articles on my blog, please tell your friends (and the world) about my writing. Some quick and easy ways to do this are outlined below. The impact you have on my writing career could be tremendous. Thanks in advance for your help!
Easy Stuff (1-2 minutes)
Tweets
If you have a Twitter account, click on the graphic below to send a pre-crafted Tweet to your peeps. Simple!
It says: “I’m reading some great #crimefiction stories by Matthew Iden @CrimeRighter. Check him out at matthew-iden.com”
- “Like” my page at facebook.com/matthew.iden
- Share my site URL http://matthew-iden.com or my Amazon author page http://www.amazon.com/-/e/B00642SZQ
Amazon
Go to the Amazon page for any or all of my books and click the “LIKE” button next to the title. That’s it! If you have 30 more seconds, Share your Like using email, Twitter, or Facebook…the links are right there. My Amazon book links: A Reason to Live | Blueblood | One Right Thing
Medium Weight (10 minutes)
- Read and Comment on my blog. Conversations (especially about writing and reading) are good! If you write a blog, connect with me. If you comment on blogs, mention me. I’ll return the favor!
- Tag my books: Amazon searches rely partly on customer-created tags, small words you see at the bottom of a book’s page (see below). Either click in the checkboxes you agree with that are already there, or copy these tags (thriller, fast paced, suspense, crime, murder, mystery, action, kindle, great read) and paste them in the “Your tags:” input box. With enough of these, my titles become associated with those searches and I’m a happy camper.

Heavy Load (30 minutes)
Review my books on Amazon
Many professional and semi-professional review sites will not even look at a book if it doesn’t have a certain number of Amazon reviews with a minimum of 3.5/5 stars. So I can use your help here! Review my books with both a star rating and a thoughtfully written review.
Please be honest and objective: while I appreciate 5 stars reviews and glowing words, most readers and reviewers can spot a “shill” (subjective reviewer with a connection to the author) a mile away and discount these reviews.

Review my book on other sites
There are other great sites out there that readers use, like Goodreads and Librarything. Use the links below to go to the exact page on each site:
A Reason to Live - Goodreads | LibraryThing
Blueblood - Goodreads | LibraryThing
One Right Thing – Goodreads | LibraryThing
If you’ve done even just a few of these, you’ve been a huge help. Thanks for your support and encouragement!
p.s. The great idea for this page came from Mike Stelzer at Social Media Examiner. If you’re an indie author, you should check it out!

this “is” a great idea, have seen some of mike’s work, but not the one about this type of promotion, thanks for the link!
Hey Adan – thanks for stopping by and thanks also for following the blog…I’ve seen your “Likes” and have been meaning to say hi, but the holidays hangover seems to keep me from following through on my good intentions! Thanks again!
you bet, no problem
i know exactly what you’re talking about! and i appreciate it
the likes are cause you have some interesting things to say, yea
look fwd to more neat posts in the future
HI Matt,
currently reading one bad twelve on behalf of KBR, and I’m also following your blog – I’ll feature you on Kindle and Kittens shortly, I expect I’ll have one bad twelve finished today – tweet/email me if you’d like to see the review before I post it
Thanks
Hi Matthew,
It’s really interesting to hear how we readers and bloggers can help. I currently review on GR & my blog, linking between the two. Having read this, I’ll look into finding time to review a bit more on Amazon – but there really are only so many hours in a day!
I follow your blog but only just found this page
I’ll add SoK to my “review this on Amazon” list!
All power to the indies!
Cheers
Hi Rose – Thanks so much for your time and effort. Any ratings and reviews you can throw an indie’s way are precious and I appreciate every one of them.
Amazon and GR are, I think, the best for reviews, but even an Amazon “LIKE” (the little button) helps if you’re short on time. Who knows what goes into those mysterious algorithms at Amazon?
Thanks again for your help and interest in my writing. I say it a lot, but writers can’t flourish without readers–and reviewers–like you!
just finished reading Sword of Kings, really enjoyed it, fantastic short story, great characters even the sword has its own life, left me wanting to read more..have tweeted and face booked it and left review on Amazon,
Best wishes Baarb,
off to read Assassin
Barb, thanks so much, the support is much appreciated. Sometimes getting reviews seems like pulling teeth, other times–with friends like you–it comes so easily! Thanks, again.
Ewe are very welcome…..will review Assassin when finished, had to go to a meeting tonight, so didn’t get to finish it,best wishes Baarb
Love your Marty Singer series. At end of “Blueblood” notice was given that Signs would be out end of 2012. Sure would like to see it. When?
Hi Joy, sorry for the late reply. Marty Singer #3, tentatively titled Signs, just went off to my line editor for penultimate changes. It’s been a bit of a bear to write, but I feel good about it, and am very hopeful that it will hit digital shelves by April.
Sorry for the delay and thanks so much for your interest!
