A Voice from the Bottom of the World – Interview with Karen Peakes

Posted on February 1, 2017

(This post is the second in a series that I’ll be doing interviewing the people who helped me research and produce my latest novel, The Winter Over, a psychological suspense thriller set at the South Pole)

When I was told Brilliance Audio was handling the audiobook narration for The Winter Over, I was thrilled: Brilliance is known for their clean, true-to-the-book recordings and meticulous detail. Then they sent me an audio sample of Karen Peakes, the voice actor they had in mind, and I was blown away.

Karen was good enough to take time out of her truly busy schedule (see question #13, below) to answer a few questions about audiobook narration, acting, and what it was like to work on my novel.

Audiobook of Blueblood in AudioFile magazine

Posted on May 10, 2014

BB_audioI just got a nice review of Blueblood in AudioFile magazine, the leading glossy on all things audiobook:

Lloyd Sherr narrates this involved story, with its complex, well-developed characters, in a calm, almost nondescript, manner. Iden’s likable, sarcastic retired homicide detective, Marty Singer, is investigating gang activity and a string of cop murders in the Washington, D.C., area.

Sherr easily differentiates the many male characters by varying his volume and pacing. He also believably portrays Singer’s unofficially adopted daughter, Amanda, who helps Marty through his cancer diagnosis and treatment. Masterfully controlling the story, Sherr slows his pace and speaks haltingly when dealing with the emotional issues surrounding the sudden loss of a loved one or the possibility of Marty’s losing the battle with cancer. Sherr’s unique presentation will draw listeners into the twists and turns of Iden’s plot.

Read the original review at here. You can buy the audiobook here and listen to a short sample, too!

Thanks AudioFile!
