The case of the haunted e-book

Posted on August 24, 2012

Ack! I need a young priest and an old priest…

For those of you who have picked up a copy of Finding Emma, you may have noticed a particular typo at about the half-way point of the book. Out of nowhere (as most typos are known to appear), the words “He Doug” starts a sentence.

It’s bad enough that the thing is a typo.

It’s worse that there is no “Doug” in the story.

It’s really bad that this typo doesn’t appear anywhere in my original document.

Seeing as how this is my first and–to date–only horror title, it’s got me a little freaked out and not a little peeved. There are now quite a few people with this novella in their hands and I don’t appreciate poltergeists ruining my nascent reputation for clean, professional e-books. Rest assured, I’m in the process of exorcising any remaining demons from the text and hope to have a pristine, demon-less copy out soon.

If you’ve purchased a copy of Finding Emma and are distressed by the typo(s) you find in it, shoot me an email at matt.iden AT matthew-iden.com with the last name of the narrator so I know you bought your copy 😉 and I’ll send you a new one after the extermination is complete.

But if another round of editing doesn’t work…who you gonna call?
