Interview from the bottom of the world: Jeremy Bloyd-Peshkin

Posted on January 23, 2017

(This post is the first in a series that I’ll be doing interviewing the people who helped me research and produce my latest novel, The Winter Over, a psychological suspense thriller set at the South Pole)

In the course of my research, no website quite captured the look and feel of the beauty and danger of the South Pole more than Jeremy Bloyd-Peshkin’s site, Ulterior Motors (http://ulterior-motors.com). His honest and often amusing accounts of spending both an Antarctic summer and winter at the South Pole’s Amundsen-Scott station as a mechanic and “fuelie” were incredibly helpful, but even that was blown away by his photography.

I had a chance to catch up with Jeremy via email and get his take on some of the more interesting aspects of life at the bottom of the world.

A new year…and a new book!

Posted on January 3, 2017

Friends, I’m excited to let you know that my latest novel, The Winter Over, is available for all Amazon Kindle First and Prime subscribers (not a subscriber? you can still pre-order the book—it’s out Feb 1).

Here’s a short description:

Each winter the crew at the Shackleton South Pole Research Facility faces nine months of isolation, round-the-clock darkness, and one of the most extreme climates on the planet. When a colleague is found dead on the icy Antarctica plain outside the station, Cass Jennings must find the strength to survive not only a punishing landscape but also an unrelenting menace determined to destroy the station—and everyone in it.

I hope you enjoy it. As always, honest reviews on Amazon or Goodreads are appreciated!

(And while I have your attention…)
All of the Marty Singer books are on sale (US only) through January 31, 2017 for just $1.99 each. Now is a great time to fill out your collection or mention to a friend. You can find links to all the titles on my Amazon author page.

Thank you for all of your support…and Happy New Year!
Matt

p.s. The Winter Over is available in four formats: Kindle, paperback, digital audio (Audible), and MP3 CD.

Nick Stephenson – Full color thrillers

Posted on June 5, 2014

nick2I don’t often straight-up recommend following other bloggers and writers, but I recently stumbled across UK thriller writer Nick Stephenson‘s blog (noorosha.com) and I’ll tell you: if you’re self-pubbing, you should go there right now.

The man is funny, smart, and is rocketing up the Amazon best-seller lists with a combination of good writing, great PR (check out his covers), and a dissection of the inner workings of Amazon that borders on the preternatural.

He only blogs once or twice a month, but that’s more often than some indie authors (ahem) and his posts are cogent and pure gold for those of us trying to make the ebook industry work for us.

Check out the first book in Nick’s Leopold Blake thriller series, Wanted. It’s perma-free and being downloaded like hotcakes.

suspense_2014xWeldon Burge of Smart Rhino Publications is on the editorial staff of Suspense Magazine and was kind enough to interview me in this month’s issue.

The layout is great, the questions were intriguing and fun to answer, and I’m keeping company with Barry Eisler and Alex Berenson on the front cover!

Suspense is one of the leading lights in suspense, mystery, and thriller fiction and you’d be doing yourself a favor by subscribing. They have interviews, news, book reviews, and a short story in each issue as well as a short story contest each year.
